Florida State Road 43 is the state designation for U.S. Route 301 between US 41(FL 55) in Palmetto, and Harney Road in Thonotosassa, although the road actually begins at Business US 41(FL 45). As with much of US 301 between Palmetto and Bushnelll, SR 43 runs along the DeSoto Trail. Names of the road include 10th Street West, and US 301 in Manatee County, and US 301 and Tampa East Boulevard in Hillsborough County.
The section of Harney Road east of US 301 in Thonotosassa is the only segment of SR 43 that is not hidden under US 301. Here the road joins Hillsborough CR 580, as Hillsborough CR 43 until that designation moves onto Hillsborough CR 582(East Fowler Avenue/Main Street), then terminates again at US 301.
